Optimizer is about ensuring you have the information and processes to find the best path forward. This occurs by understanding our past combining the best wisdom of humanity and applying it to the world today but there are a number of hurdles to it.
Information has never been more freely available and yet less trusted than it is today. We have access to information from the world over that would have been unimaginable to humans just a generation ago and yet it is increasingly consolidated to just a handful of organizations. Large organizations which are big targets for government influence, both friend and foe.
We also have capable large language models and robotics able to handle tasks of varying complexity. The problems here stem from opaque influence in the training data and prompting not to mention the data sharing risks. No one wants a personal assistant with hidden objectives and that shares all your intimate details with a third party.
The volume of information coming online overshadows the amnesia that we also forget is happening in the background. Old newspapers, magazines, research notes, radio, books, family memories all being discarded daily. Information that is crucial for understanding where humanity has been and who we are as a human race.
Fortunately we are at a technological golden age and the capability to solve these problems is here or right around the corner.
Centralization of data storage and access can be countered with decentralized networks. Getting back to the root of the internet, there is a need to create more standalone nodes, each contributing to the whole and making a web resilient against centralized influence.
Influence operations on the data from the past can be thwarted with independently verifiable integrity. Public, decentralized blockchains will enable anyone to verify that something they are seeing is unaltered. Data enhancement and analysis can be transparently defined and stored so that everyone will
Information discard faces the largest hurdle at the moment. Digital storage and data triage are both solvable with today’s technology but require physical assets like books, notes or pictures to be digitized. Traditionally this was a very human capital intensive and thus expensive process. These are exactly the kinds of problems that ubiquitous robotics will be able to solve. A 10 or even 100 fold reduction in cost of digitization will make available an enormous trove of data that we can preserve and mine for wisdom.
We will be able to preserve the past of humanity and apply the wisdom of our forefathers to greater heights.
Who is the optimizer?
My name is Ben Langrill. I am a digital preservationist and computing enthusiast. I have spent the last few years studying the why and how of advanced cybersecurity tactics and teaching others how to build and defend networks. I have a long career history of preserving cyber tactics and techniques with digital archives and live test environments. The recent growth of AI and decentralized compute projects led me to see an opportunity for solving some of the biggest problems that we will face in the coming years.
I live in the city of modern explorers. A city rich in history of those who pushed boundaries and found new and better ways of doing things. I have experience in hypnosis, psychology, and classical education which will all be key to unlocking the full potential of AI.
Most importantly , I have extensive integrator experience. I can make things work together that were never designed to which means I can create products to solve problems.
